Enterprise Architect and Technologist driving technical excellence

Architecting secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure and cloud-native applications across private and public cloud environments for organizations of all sizes.

About Me

I am a hands-on technology leader with 15+ years of experience architecting, building, and operating mission-critical infrastructure and cloud-native platforms across public cloud (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) and private cloud/on-premises environments. My expertise spans multi-region, multi-cloud, and hybrid architectures, with a focus on designing resilient, secure, and highly available platforms that power enterprise-scale applications.

I specialize in platform engineering, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, observability, and modern cloud architectures. Throughout my career, I have led the design and implementation of enterprise platforms from the ground up, including large-scale Kubernetes environments, virtualization platforms based on Nutanix, and highly available infrastructure supporting real-time analytics, transactional systems, and business-critical workloads.

My background extends beyond infrastructure into software engineering. I have designed and developed scalable, high-performance full-stack applications using Scala, Java/J2EE, Python, and JavaScript, enabling me to bridge the gap between application development and platform engineering. This combination allows me to build platforms that improve developer productivity, operational excellence, reliability, and scalability.

I enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, mentoring teams, and driving technology modernization initiatives. I am passionate about building cloud-native platforms, advancing infrastructure automation, and helping organizations deliver secure, resilient, and scalable technology solutions that accelerate business outcomes.

Professional Experience

Cloud Infrastructure Architect / Platform Architect

Midamerican Energy Company (Berkshire Hathaway Energy)
Jan 2023 - Present
Atlanta, GA
  • Architected and led the implementation of enterprise private cloud platforms based on Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure and Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP), designing and provisioning 15+ production Kubernetes clusters across geographically separated data centers with high availability, disaster recovery, and automated lifecycle management.
  • Designed and built multi-region cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) from the ground up, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Python, Azure/OCI SDKs) and fully automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to deliver secure, repeatable enterprise platform deployments.
  • Architected, deployed, and administered enterprise Kubernetes platforms, including Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) and Red Hat OpenShift on OCI and Azure, implementing standardized platform services, security controls, networking, storage, monitoring, and operational best practices.
  • Led infrastructure architecture reviews for enterprise initiatives, identifying security, networking, resiliency, and scalability gaps while defining reference architectures and engineering standards adopted across multiple projects.
  • Collaborated with enterprise security, networking, and application teams to design cloud platforms that met stringent governance, compliance, and operational requirements while enabling modern application delivery and platform engineering practices.
  • Architected a unified enterprise observability strategy spanning infrastructure, Kubernetes, and applications, evaluating open-source and commercial technologies to improve monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational visibility across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Led the architecture, proof of concept, and technical evaluation for replacing SolarWinds with an enterprise monitoring platform based on Icinga, designing a scalable multi-datacenter monitoring architecture with distributed satellites, centralized management, high availability, automation, and integration with enterprise observability tooling.
  • Designed infrastructure automation frameworks that significantly reduced manual provisioning effort and improved deployment consistency across cloud and on-premises environments through Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.

Distinguished Engineer

Intelligent Energy Solutions
Apr 2015 – Jan 2023
Atlanta, GA
  • Architected and modernized the Enterprise Energy Management System (EMS) product line, including integration with Ecobee smart devices to enable intelligent building automation and energy optimization.
  • Designed and built a cloud-native big data analytics platform from the ground up using Apache Spark (streaming and batch), Kafka, Cassandra, and MongoDB to process and analyze large-scale IoT telemetry in real time.
  • Led infrastructure architecture, automation, and operations for residential and commercial SaaS platforms, implementing Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native operational practices across AWS using Chef, Jenkins, Docker, Kafka, Cassandra, Zookeeper, MongoDB, Spark, and Nagios.
  • Architected and developed the Jarvis commercial energy management platform, delivering a containerized microservices architecture with Flask-based backend services, advanced analytics using Pandas and NumPy, and Niagara Framework integration, consistently achieving sub-second response times in production.
